The “Wanderer”, in Schubert’s cheerful song, lived by a millstream – it was the flowing water that gave him his wanderlust. Horizons beckoned. It could have been here in Hittisau. But here it is not just horizons that beckon. It’s our dales and hilltops, mountain ridges, alpine meadows, ravines, themed trails (find out all about water, or wood, or saints, or healers!) – all waiting here to be explored.This is a place for wandering. Wandering to unwind, to get fit again, to discover new places... happy wandering! Amble through our meadows and woods, scale a peak or two, follow a clear stream. For a specially rewarding day, set your sights on our very own local mountain, the Hittisberg, with its great panoramic views, or take the high Hochmoorweg path over Hochhäderich mountain – you will feel that bit nearer to heaven.
