The Lecknertal Valley
“All the good things in life have a laidback quality, they just lie there like cows on the meadow grass,” wrote Friedrich Nietzsche, the great philosopher. Take a walk along the Lecknertal valley, and you’ll see what he meant. A short stretch of toll road, then park your car – and feel the peace. This valley is a place apart. And tucked away in its central stretch is Lecknersee Lake. It’s an emerald reflecting the landscape, a mirror in which time stands still.
In winter, Lecknertal is a place that the wildlife and a few ski-tourers have to themselves. But in summer, what a contrast. Gorgeous alp meadows, fresh milk, mouth-watering cheeses, pure clean air – and walkers galore. Oh yes, and the cows, of course – your actual laidback cows on the meadows. All the good things in life belong together.
